Benefit GALA "DIA DE LA HISPANIDAD"

The Spanish Association is a not for profit cultural and social organization whose main goals are to facilitate the expansion of Spanish culture through scholarships, cultural events and social activities; to provide support to the Spanish community, and their friends, in the Midwest; and to strengthen Spanish-American ties. The scholarship program for American students that are planning to attend an accredited university in Spain is, without doubt, our most important program.
Each year we celebrate the benefit gala “Día de la Hispanidad,” to raise funds for the scholarship program. Over one hundred guests, along with visiting dignitaries and the Consul General of Spain usually attend our event, which this year we will celebrate at the Intercontinental Hotel on October 12, 2008.
The proceeds of the gala will benefit the Association’s scholarship fund. Thanks to the participation in the Gala and the generosity of individuals and organizations like yours, we have been able to award over one hundred grants in the past thirty years. We are hoping this year’s gala will allow us to continue to offer scholarships to deserving students. Your assistance in helping our scholarship program to continue to be a success is deeply appreciated.

Fellowes O-Cup 2008
Sixteen national teams to compete in the most culturally diversified adult soccer tournament in downtown Chicago.
Event Date: September 6, 2008.

Sponsors: Fellowes, RedBull, Evian, Chicago Fire, Fado Irish Pub, IMS.
Expatriates from the entire World, members of local foreign communities as well as Chicagoans, will play for their motherland national teams in the Fellowes O-Cup 2008.
The sixteen national teams will play this one-day tournament on September 6, 2008.
The O-Cup follows a simple, popular and easy to enjoy “Cup” format: in order to enter the quarter finals of the main event, each team will have to qualify by taking one of the top two spots of the four qualifying groups.
The O-Cup was created by Sebastien Labat, an European expatriate, who moved to Chicago from France in 2003 for a job opportunity. This year, besides the main tournament, an official drawing as well as an official awards presentation will be organized at Chicago Fado Irish Pub.
